Ingredient:
1 frozen pie crust
10 links of maple flavor pork breakfast sausage, cut to 4 pieces each
1 tablespoon of butter
1 small red onion (diced)
1/4 inch cubes of emmanthaler cheese ( a handful)
1/4 inch cubes of gruyere cheese ( a handful)
4 eggs
1/4 cup of half and half
1/8 cup of shredded aged gouda
Direction:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cover the pie crust with foil. Put pie weights on top of the foil. Bake crust for 18 minutes.
While the crust is baking, preheat medium saute pan with butter. Brown the sausage. After they are brown, set them aside on a small plate. Add the onion into the pan, sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. Cook until the onion is soft (about 4 minutes).
In the mean time, whisk the eggs and half and half. Season with salt and pepper. Add the saute onion, whisk again.
Take the crust out from the oven (it should be a light golden brown color), let it cool slightly. Reduce the oven to 350 degrees.
Sprinkle the emmanthaler and gruyere at the bottom of the crust, add the sausage. Pour in the egg mixture, sprinkle with shredded gouda on top.
Baked for 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
Let it cool for 1 hour until it sets. Serve warm.
